Apple’s newly launched music streaming service, Apple Music, was launched yesterday at Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference, WWDC 2015.

Unfortunately for Apple, it’s big announcement wasn’t so big because it is entering the music streaming business a little too late, behind big players like Spotify, Pandora, Tidal etc.

The success of Apple Music is currently under heavy debate. Nevertheless, here are important facts to know about the service.

  • The new music streaming service is made up of Apple Music (a music sharing platform with curated playlists by artistes and users), Beats 1 (a 24hr radio streaming service), and Connect (a social service that  allows artists to share with fans).
  • The service costs $9.99 a month for individuals, and $14.99 for families of up to six.
  • It provides complete access to iTunes.
  • Free three month trial for potential subscribers.
  • The service will become available on iOS devices from the 30th of June.
  • Judging from how Apple guards the information of its users, the platform might not be ripe for marketers just yet.

Finally, for all the haters waiting for Apple Music to flop, it is important to remember that  Apple has a ready made market of all iPhone and iPad users, including all iTunes subscribers. So maybe it’s too early to start gloating…
