It has been brought to my attention that the reason why you don’t stick to your resolution is you.

YoU, yOU, yoUUUUUUUUUUU.

Feel bad? Lol. Let me ease up a little and let you in on something. 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail by February, so you really are not alone. But you should do better in 2019. You deserve it!

These are some of the key reasons why you’re your own problem, a Saboteur.

1. You Bite More Than You Can Chew
Don’t knock out your engine with ridiculous resolutions. Most of us create resolutions that are too ‘big’ and therefore we can’t meet them. Lay out your plans in small bits. Don’t vaguely say you want to save N5,000,000 for the year. You’re more likely to achieve it when you break it down into monthly, weekly or even daily savings.

2. You’re not Dangote’s Child
I too wish my papa na Dangote but as he is not and I don’t have his kind of money, we move. Apply this too. Don’t give up on your resolutions if the cost of achieving them is too high. Be creative and try to find less expensive ways to complete your goals. If you’re trying to lose weight, you can exercise and work out without a gym. I workout in my room and it’s very effective.

3. You Switch Lanes Too Often
It’s sensible to refine your goals, but shutting them down completely is where you go wrong all the time. Change can be difficult, I mean, you were used to a certain kind of lifestyle. So chill the fu** out. You can stick to the change by starting with one or two habits, then once those become natural and you don’t even have to think about them, spice it up with a few more!

4. You Don’t Ask For Help
Even Superman has the Justice League on his side when there’s a battle so what’s your excuse?
Don’t suffer in silence biko. Reach out to your support system, family and friends, for help when you need some. In getting those goals right, you’ll probably need a plug or two to come through for you. Also, surround yourself with people who inspire you to be more, do more, and have more.

5. You’re Not Ready To Change
Yes dear, I said it. The truth is, you may think you are interested in change, and you very well may be but are you ready to change? If you’re ready why do you keep taking every excuse under the sun that helps you step away from your path? Whhhyyy? You need to check yourself again. It may simply mean that they are not the goals that matter the most to you at this present time.

You can fix things up and make your resolutions work in 2019. Go get ‘em!
