For months Americans have been gearing up for the mid-term elections with much excitement as the election was seen as an opportunity to right so many wrongs. Well, last night, Americans exercised their constitutional rights by electing their representative into different offices.
Now, this is where things interesting.
Prior to the mid-term elections, political analysts were of the opinion that many Republican candidates will find votes hard to come by because of the many sins of Donald Trump coupled with the aggressive social media campaign of many prominent black personalities.
To be fair, the election was not a total disaster for the Republicans as they were able to maintain their hold of the Senate. The Democrats were able to reclaim the Congress, so you would say, it was a win-win for both parties. Here are some of the major talking points.
- 29-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez became the youngest woman ever elected to the United State Congress.

However, Andrew Gillum, a Barack Obama backed governorship candidate in Florida, lost to President Trump endorsed candidate Ron Desantis.
He had this to say after He lost.
In a nutshell, President Trump seat is safe for the time being, but, this is a clear indication that the next election in 2020 will be a tough one for the Republicans.
As Nigeria prepares for next year election, I hope it will be as smooth and violence free as this… well, we will be here to analyse.
